The Child Maintenance Service
The Child Maintenance Service’s overall purpose is to promote and secure effective child maintenance arrangements. To deliver this objective the Division has three core functions.
- promoting the financial responsibility parents have for their children;
- providing information and support about the different child maintenance options available to parents; and
- providing an efficient statutory maintenance service with effective enforcement powers.
Customer Information
Child maintenance can make a significant difference to a child’s wellbeing and the quality of family relationships. A parent who does not live with their child still has a financial responsibility for the child.
Child Maintenance Campaigns
The Child Maintenance Choices media campaign, launched 17th January 2011, promotes a free impartial helpline service to talk parents, friends, families or anyone with an interest through the choices about child maintenance.
