The Nomadic comes home - 19 July 2006
Almost a century after she was built, the SS Nomadic, the last remaining White Star vessel, has returned to Belfast close to where she was launched in 1911. The SS Nomadic was the tender which took First and Second class passengers to the Titanic and Olympic.
There to greet her was Social Development Minister David Hanson who said this was “an important date in Northern Ireland’s proud maritime and industrial heritage. There is world-wide interest in the ill-fated Titanic and now is the time for Belfast to capitalise on this”, he said.
