Help with downloading documents

All links to documents that are availble for download from this site tell you what format they are in and the size of the document either in Kilobytes (KB) or Megabytes (MB).
The larger the size of the document the slower it will take to download.  Where possible we can give alternative sources for the documents; such as hard copy, braille, audio etc.
 

Help with Portable Document File (PDF) documents

Viewing PDFs

You can download PDF documents using Adobe Reader External website: opens in a new window - available free of charge.
If your screen reader software (for example an audio-enabled web browser) is not compatible with Adobe Reader, Adobe provide a free online tool to convert the content of PDF files to text External website: opens in a new window - so they can be understood by most screen reader applications.

Listening to PDFs - Read Out Loud

The latest version of Adobe Reader, version 7, comes with the ability to "read" the PDF content to you. This function known as "Read Out Loud" can be accessed as follows:
With the PDF you want read to you open in Adobe Reader 7, go to the "View" menu and select "Read Out Loud", you will then have the option to "Read This Page Only" or "Read To End Of Document".
 

Help with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

If you do not have Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint on you computer you can download viewers from Microsoft  - available free of charge.
