Renewal of Registrations

The Registration Of Clubs (Northern Ireland) Order 1996
Clubs currently registered for the supply of intoxicating liquor should note that registrations are due for renewal during the month of March.
The statutory renewal date for registration is 1 March and applications for renewal must be submitted to the Clerk of Petty Sessions for the petty sessions district in which the premises of the club are situated Not later than 1 February 2008.
Late application or failure to make an application may mean that the registration cannot be renewed in March.
 

Increased Christmas Bonus payment

Real help for pensioners - Increased Christmas Bonus payment
Most of you will have already received £10 of your Christmas Bonus. To help you through the coming winter months we will be making an extra one-off payment of £60. The payment is tax free.
You don’t have to do anything. It will be paid automatically. Most people receiving the State Pension will get the payment in January and everyone else who normally receives the Christmas Bonus will be paid in February or March. That includes people getting Pension Credit, Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance and certain other benefits.

Charity Commission for Northern Ireland - Chief Commissioner

Make a difference by being part of the new Charity Commission for Northern Ireland
We are seeking to appoint a Chief Commissioner to lead the Charity Commission in Northern Ireland. The Commission will be responsible for the regulation of charities and for promoting best practice in the management and governance of the charitable sector.
Experience and skills required:
The Chief Commissioner will have proven leadership skills, outstanding communication and influencing skills, the capacity to form and maintain excellent working relationships, strong analytical skills and the ability to formulate policy relating to the operation and governance of a new public body. The successful candidate will have experience of chairing or leading a Board of comparable scale and must demonstrate evidence of ability to lead a process of significant change.
Duration of Contract: An appointment of a person to hold office as a member of the Commission shall be for a term not exceeding 5 years.
Time Commitment: Approx 2 days per month.
Remuneration: The Chief Commissioner will receive annual remuneration amounting to £5,000. The appointee will also receive normal travel and subsistence allowances in respect of expenses incurred whilst on Commission business.
This is a new competition and previous candidates are eligible to apply. All public appointments are made in accordance with guidance issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Northern Ireland and must comply with the statutory requirements under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, i.e. the promotion of equal opportunity and diversity.

Charity Commission for Northern Ireland - Deputy Chief Commissioner/Commissioners

Make a difference by being part of the new Charity Commission for Northern Ireland
We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Chief Commissioner and up to 5 Commissioners to the Charity Commission in Northern Ireland. The Commission will be responsible for the regulation of charities and for promoting best practice in the management and governance of the charitable sector.
Experience and skills required:
The Deputy Chief Commissioner will have proven leadership skills, good communication and influencing skills, the capacity to form and maintain excellent working relationships, strong analytical skills and the ability to formulate policy relating to the operation and governance of a new public body. The successful candidate will also have several years’ experience of contributing effectively on a Board of comparable scale.
Charity Commissioners will have a sound working knowledge of the not for profit sector, an appreciation of charity regulation in Great Britain and Ireland, practical experience and understanding of strategic and financial planning along with good communication and interpersonal skills. Commissioners are expected to have knowledge or experience in at least one of the following areas:-
  • legal experience in the charity field; charity fundraising; or finance, accounting and corporate governance.
At least one Commissioner will have responsibility for legal issues and must be either a barrister or solicitor of at least 7 years’ standing.
Duration of Contract: An appointment of a person to hold office as a member of the Commission shall be for a term not exceeding 5 years.
Time Commitment: 1-2 days per month.
Remuneration: The Deputy Chief Commissioner will receive annual remuneration amounting to £3,000. Commissioners will receive annual remuneration amounting to £2,000. Appointees will also receive normal travel and subsistence allowances in respect of expenses incurred whilst on Commission business.
This is an extended competition and previous candidates should not re-apply. All public appointments are made in accordance with guidance issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Northern Ireland and must comply with the statutory requirements under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, i.e. the promotion of equal opportunity and diversity.
