Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 1964
The Department for Social Development gives notice that it proposes to make a cy-près scheme in respect of Elizabeth Clarke Girvan, Deceased under section 13 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 1964.
The details of the scheme are below. Comments or objections should be made by 20th July 2011 to:

Elizabeth Clarke Girvan Deceased Scheme made by the Department for Social Development under section 13 the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 1964.
WHEREAS
- By her will dated the 17 May 2007, Elizabeth Clarke Girvan, late of 24, Glenarm Road, Larne, County Antrim, who died on 28 April 2009, bequeathed the following legacy for charitable purposes:
Three thousand Pounds (£3,000.00) to the Blind Centre for Northern Ireland, and Deaf Senior Citizens of Northern Ireland Association.”
- No such institution as the Deaf Senior Citizens of Northern Ireland Association now exists, and the original gift cannot therefore be carried out.
- The Executors of the Will have proposed that the said bequest be applied as hereinafter set out.
NOW THEREFORE
The Department for Social Development, after due inquiry and in pursuance of section 13 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 1964 and all other powers thereunto enabling it
HEREBY MAKES THE FOLLOWING SCHEME
The said sum of £3,000.00 together with any interest accrued thereon and after deduction of any expenses incurred in connection with this scheme, shall be paid to:
The British Deaf Association Northern Ireland, Unit 19c, Weavers Court, Linfield Road, Belfast, BT 12 5GH.
Laganside Events Grant 2011/12
The Department for Social Development (DSD) invites new applications for funding for Laganside Events Grant for the financial year 1 April 2011 – 31 March 2012
Applicants who have already applied for Laganside Events Grant for this financial year are excluded from re-applying.
Funding under the Laganside Events Grant aims to assist events that will:
- Contribute to the continuing regeneration of the Laganside area
- Encourage local involvement and community and business participation and
- Help attract visitors to the area.
The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 24th June 2011, no later than 5.00pm
