Appointment of 3 Members to The Board of The Northern Ireland Housing Executive

The Board of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive is responsible to the Department for Social Development for the efficient, effective and economic delivery of the Housing Executive’s housing services. It determines the Housing Executive’s policies, within its overall aims and objectives, and makes decisions on operational and organisational strategies.
The Department for Social Development is seeking to appoint 3 new members with effect from 5 November 2009. The term of appointment will be for 5 years and may be renewable for a second term. Time commitment amounts to around 1 day per month and the posts are remunerated at £6,740 per annum plus travel and subsistence costs incurred on Board business.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate:-
  • an understanding of the overall aims of Government policies in Northern Ireland as they affect housing issues;
  • an understanding and ability to interpret and translate how strategies, plans and programmes of a range of organisations can assist to achieve the aims of government policies;
  • a well developed understanding of Corporate Governance issues and strategic planning;
  • the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a challenging environment ;
  • good communication skills.

Notice to Extend the Public Consultation period for Marine Gardens, Bangor

The Department for Social Development (DSD) is seeking comments on proposals for the future regeneration of the Queen’s Parade, King Street, Main Street, Southwell Road, Marine Gardens Waterfront area in Bangor Town Centre.
The plans will be on display in Bangor Carnegie Library until 24 July 2009
DSD would now welcome the views of all interested parties on these plans. The consultation responses on the proposal will be considered by DSD in finalising the development proposal for the Marine Gardens. The consultation document is available to any member of the public and can be obtained by contacting the address below or by going to www.dsdni.gov.uk and clicking on the consultation zone in the main menu.
