Notice of Intention to Make a Vesting Order

Vacant Land and Property at :
  • 35-37 Carrick Hill (Formerly Upper Library Street), Belfast,
  • 38 Library Street, Belfast,
  • 155,157/161 North Street, Belfast and
  • 40-44 Kent Street, Belfast
The Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991The Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 1972
TAKE NOTICE that the Department for Social Development (“the Department”) in pursuance of the provisions of the above Act and Order proposes to make an Order vesting the land described in the Schedule annexed hereto in the Department in accordance with and subject to the provisions of the above Act and Order; the Department desires to acquire the said land otherwise than by agreement for the purpose of securing the treatment of the lands as a whole by development or redevelopment.
Any objections to the proposed Order must be presented in writing setting out the grounds thereof to Belfast City Centre Regeneration Directorate, Department for Social Development, Lesley House, 25 Wellington Place, Belfast BT1 6GD on or before 12th April 2010.
A map showing the land proposed to be acquired may be inspected during normal office hours at the above address.

i. 175 sq m of vacant land at 38 Library Street, Belfast
ii. 226 sq m vacant land and property to the rear of 35-37 Carrick Hill, Belfast (Formerly Upper Library Street, Belfast)
iii. 317 sq m of vacant land and property at 35-37 Carrick Hill, Belfast (Formerly Upper Library Street, Belfast)
iv. 289 sq m vacant land and property at 40-44 Kent Street, Belfast
v. 806 sq m vacant land and property at 157/161 North Street, Belfast
vi. 65 sq m of vacant land at 155 North Street Belfast
Together with the bed and soil of all lanes and passageways within the boundaries of the said land and properties surrounded by red lines on the map.
 

Draft Regeneration and Housing Bill Consultation

The Department for Social Development has launched for public consultation a draft Regeneration and Housing Bill which reflects the Department’s policy proposals for the transfer of some regeneration and housing functions under the Review of Public Administration.
The new legislation puts forward policy proposals for the transfer to local government of three areas of operational delivery from DSD and four from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) in May 2011.
The Department values your comments on these proposals and would like to hear your views. A copy of the draft Bill and consultation document can be found at www.dsdni.gov.uk/index/consultations.
