Call for Expressions of Interest
Major Artwork, Belfast City Centre
The Department for Social Development (DSD) is calling for Expressions of Interest from suitably experienced artists to develop a major artwork at the historic Arthur Square in Belfast city centre. Belfast aims to enhance its current role as a premier European regional capital and has begun a long term strategy to upgrade and transform the city centre public realm. This work is being funded by DSD. International landscape and urban design practice EDAW has been engaged to design and implement these works. The commissioned artist will work with DSD, EDAW, CBAT and other partners to develop a sculptural work that will form an integral part of the first phase of the public realm scheme. The piece will create a strong focus for Arthur Square, and confirm its importance as a destination within a retail-dominated environment and as a gateway to the new Victoria Square shopping centre.
