What is Healthy Start Scheme?

Healthy Start replaced the Welfare Food Scheme (free milk and vitamins) in November 2006.
The scheme enables eligible pregnant women and families with young children, on certain benefits or tax credits, to get vouchers that can be put towards the cost of milk, fruit and vegetables or infant formula milk (not follow on or soya formula). Free vitamin supplements are also provided.

Who is entitled?

You are eligible for Healthy Start if you are pregnant or have a child less than 4 years of age and you, or your family, receive:

Pregnant women under 18 years old are also eligible even if not in receipt of benefits or tax credits.
