Industrial Death Benefit

Summary

Industrial Death Benefit is a taxable benefit payable to widows / widowers, whose husbands / wives died before 11 April 1988 as a result of an industrial accident or industrial disease.
An allowance can also be paid for dependant child / children.
There are two rates of benefit payable depending on the widow's / widower's age when widowed.

Who is entitled?

Widows / widowers whose husbands / wives died before 11 April 1988 as a result of an industrial accident or industrial disease.
An allowance can also be paid for dependant child / children.

How much is paid?

Payable at one of two different rates which is dependent upon the widow's/widower's age when widowed.
An age addition at 80 years can also be paid providing that one is not being paid with any other Social Security Benefit.
Industrial Death Benefit can be payable in addition to other benefits based on the widow's own contributions, e.g. Retirement Pension and Incapacity Benefit, providing the accident occured before 11/04/1988.

£0.25 Age addition (payable only if not already in payment with another Social Security benefit)

£11.35 2nd and subsequent child / children / qualifying young people.
