Pneumoconiosis, Byssinosis & Misc. Disease Scheme Benefits
Tax-free benefits for people suffering from industrial diseases attributable to employment which ended before 5th July 1948.
Rates payable depend on the level of disablement.
A person who contracted pneumoconiosis, byssinosis, or certain other diseases as a result of employment in Great Britain or Northern Ireland before 5th July 1948; and
who did not receive Workmen's Compensation Industrial Injuries Benefits or damages for the disease.

How long can it be paid for?
Usually for life.

Effective from 12 April 2006
£127.10 Total disablement allowance and major incapacity allowance (maximum) £46.95 Partial disablement allowance
The amount payable depends on the extent of the disability.
Extra cash help could be available for dependants.
They may also receive:
A lump sum of up to £300 could be payable to a person who is a dependant of someone who died as a result of these diseases.
If the customer contracted Pneumoconiosis, Byssinosis or certain other diseases after 4th July 1948 they can claim Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit.
Customers who receive Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit for certain dust related diseases may be able to obtain another one-off lump sum payment from Industrial Injuries Branch under the Pneumoconiosis Etc. (Workers Compensation) (NI) Order 1979.
