Change of Address

The information in the following screens relates to the effect that a change of address may have on benefits, it does not include information where the change of address results in a number of additional changes e.g. new partner, additional children etc.
Most social security benefits are not affected by a simple change of address.
It is necessary to notify a change of address for all social security benefits to ensure that future payments and correspondence are sent to the correct address and Post Office®.
If a customer is receiving Jobseeker's Allowance they should report their change of address to their Social Security or Jobs & Benefits office.
If a customer is receiving Housing Benefit, they must report the change of address to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive/Rates Collection Agency office in writing.
When a customer is notifying the relevant benefits office they should include their National Insurance number, their full address including Post Office® and date of moving.
The social security benefits in the following list may be affected by a change of address.
The effect on each will depend on whether the change of address is temporary or permanent.
If the customer is receiving a benefit which is not included in the list below, access "Other Benefits" to determine what action they should take to notify a change of address.
Further information can be obtained by selecting the specific benefit.
