Students - Child Benefit
If Child Benefit is paid to a customer for a child aged between 16 and 19 and that child starts at University or the equivalent to study for:
- a degree;
- NVQ level 4 or above;
- HND;
- BTEC HNC and HND; or
- teacher training
Child Benefit will cease.
Child Benefit may still be paid to a customer if:
- the child is aged 16, 17 or 18; and
- is still in full-time non-advanced education studying subjects at any level up to and including A-level/AVCE/NVQ level 3 or the equivalent.
Full-time education means more than 12 hours a week supervised tuition.
Breaks for meals, time when no-one is supervising the child's study, or homework should not be counted.
