Information for employers
If any of your employees are receiving Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) and this were to stop or no longer be payable, that employee may well transfer to Employment and Support Allowance. For this to happen, you are required to supply them with an SSP1 form, and from 27 October the form has changed.
In summary:
- The Statutory Sick Pay (General) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008 came into force on October 27
- The changes in legislation mean that employers now supply a reduced amount of information when their employee transfers to state benefit, is excluded from SSP, or leaves the current employment
- This new style SSP1 form must be used for any employee who transfers or is excluded from SSP, and the first day of sickness (following any period of SSP) was on or after 27 October 08
- The new style SSP1 is available for download by following the link below. A link is also available for you to order copies of the new SSP1 form.
