Child Maintenance Bonus Scheme
The Child Maintenance Bonus Scheme was abolished on 3 March 2003 and was replaced by the Child Maintenance Premium. The Child Maintenace Bonus Scheme allowed you,if you were a parent with care, to claim a tax-free lump sum of up to £1,000 when you, or your partner, moved off Jobseeker's Allowance (Income based) or Income Support into work.
The bonus accumulated at up to £5 per week dependent on the amount of child maintenance actually paid while on benefit.
The bonus had to be claimed within 28 days of leaving benefit.
The bonus could only be paid if you started work within 14 days of leaving benefit.
Child Maintenance Bonus ends on 27 October 2008. You will then have a month in which to satisfy the qualifying conditions and a further 28 days in which to make a claim.
