What is the Pension Service Application Line?

The Pension Service Application Line is the quick and easy way to apply for Pension Credit over the phone. Calls are free and we will fill in the forms for you.
The application line is just for making a new application for Pension Credit. If you want to know about an existing application call the Pension Service Enquiry Line.


Pension Credit replaced Minimum Income Guarantee from 6th October 2003.

What happens when you call?

When making your application by phone you will need the following:
  • Your National Insurance Number and your partner's number (if you have one);
  • Your Bank and savings details;
  • Information about any second pensions;
  • Details of your own or your partner's income (if applicable) and
  • Details of housing costs eg mortgage interest (if applicable).
We will take your details over the phone and post you out a completed form for you to check, sign and return.
