Belfast: Streets Ahead
 The Belfast; Streets Ahead project will improve the parts of Belfast City Centre the public have access to. This includes streets, parks and squares as well as things like furniture, lighting, signs and landscaping. It can also include public art and sculpture. Work on the first phase of the project will commence in June 2007 and aims to be completed in May 2009.
DSD and our contractor Farrans (Construction) Ltd will work to minimise inconvenience to traders, shoppers and visitors in the affected streets. Access will still be available to all business premises. Farrans will be drawing up detailed plans for the street works. The contractor will consult on these plans before work starts.

Project Aims
By improving the appearance and quality of the City Centre we aim to:
- bring investment in from outside Northern Ireland,
- encourage business development,
- attract more tourists and
- contribute to a reduction in crime by making the city centre safer and more people-friendly with well lit and active streets.
