Streetscape Projects

The Belfast Streets Ahead Phase 1 Project has transformed fourteen of Belfast’s main streets and public spaces. The improvements included

reducing clutter in all pedestrian areas making the streets more easy to use by everyone
providing new high quality natural stone paving,
new street furniture
(seating, trees, and bins)
better street lighting
a new one way traffic system in Donegall Place

While the City Centre underwent this major transformation there was a period of some disruption, however, throughout the construction works access was maintained to all shops/businesses and where possible materials were prepared off-site in order to minimise the disruption, noise and dust. This inconvenience was short lived in comparison to the long term benefits of the new improved shopping environment
