Michael Baker Michael has a BA (Hons)/MA in fine art, a PGCE in Art & Design and is experienced in teaching at all levels in schools and colleges. He is also experienced in community arts, his work involves sculpture & clay modelling, mosaic, float & prop making, festival and costume design. Other works include a community mosaic for Upper Springfield Development Trust.
Deborah BrownDeborah is a Belfast based sculptor, working mainly in bronze. Her work concentrates on human and animal forms and has been exhibited in Ireland, UK, USA, Germany, France and Canada.
Vivien BurnsideVivien lives and works in the Belfast area. She has an MA from the University of Ulster and is an Associate Lecturer at the Belfast Institute. Vivien has been exhibiting work, in a variety of media, in galleries and public spaces since 1981. In recent years, work has been seen in Belfast, London, Seattle, Reykjavik and Hannover. In Belfast, previous public artworks include billboard paintings, participation in Horsehead International Sculpture Project and a commission for The Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Belfast.
Brian ConnollyBrian was born in Ballymoney, County Antrim and awarded an MA in Fine Art at the University of Ulster in 1985. He is a multi-media artist who often deals to a high degree in site specific work and has produced public sculptures, temporary ‘public’ and ‘gallery’ installations utilising multi-media, live/performance works, drawings etc. Previous commissions include ‘Sundial’, Portrush and ‘Untitled Sculpture’, Microsoft Dublin.
Susan CrowtherSusan is a Chartered Architect working for the private practice ‘designs matter’, Susan has worked on a number of artistic ventures in conjunction with Willis Engineering (Manufacturers - Portadown). Previous commissions include: Gasworks Railings; Street Furniture at Belfast Castle and Railings at Market Street, Lurgan.
Alan Dawson Associates Based in Cumbria specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke internal and external art and architectural metalwork. Projects have been carried out throughout the world, many being award winning schemes.
David DudgeonDavid has an MA in Applied Arts and a BA in Product Design. His work to date has involved the link between functional design and sculpture. Other commissions include sculptural benches for The Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Belfast.
Rita DuffyRita is one of Ireland’s foremost artists having exhibited widely internationally. Her recent work ‘Banquet’ was displayed in the Ormeau Baths Gallery, Belfast and Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin. Her work features in public and private collections in Ireland, USA and Europe. Rita is currently working on a public artwork for O’Connell Street, Dublin.
Sue FordSue is based in Bristol. She is a professional studio potter specialising in raku pottery and runs extramural pottery courses at Bath University.
Catherine HarperCatherine is from Limavady, she has a Ph.D, Diploma and BA in Art from the University of Ulster. Her work may also be seen at the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Mater Hospital, Belfast, at the National Concert Hall, Dublin and at the Ministry for Arts and Culture, Dublin. She has previewed in solo and selected group exhibitions internationally. Her work features in public and private collections in Ireland, UK, Germany and France.
Maurice HarronMaurice is an experienced artist; his work includes abstract, representational, conceptual and figurative sculpture and painting. He is a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and a member of the Sculptors’ Society of Ireland. Previous recent commissions include the 5 semi-abstract sculptures on the theme of music and dance, Strabane/Lifford and Dry Arch Roundabout, Letterkenny.
Jo-Anne HattyJo-Anne has a BA in Fine Art and MA in Site Specific Sculpture. Jo-Anne is a relatively young artist, specialising in working with community groups to produce site-specific artworks, which vary in nature and form according to the location.
Mike HoggMike has a BA and MA in Fine Art and is Director of Flaxart Studios. Mike has worked on a number of public works including the bronze disc in the Gasworks, he is interested in how locations and their history can suggest different imagery.
Susan F HunterSusan is a designer/maker with a BA (Hons) and a PG Diploma in Ceramics. Susan has extensive experience of large scale mosaic/mural work for public and private commissions, mainly in the West of Scotland. She is currently based in Northern Ireland combining teaching and making.
Rachel Joynt Rachel has a BA First Class Honours in Sculpture. She has carried out a number of commissions including ‘Peoples Island, Dublin Millennium Sculptural Symposium; ‘Perpetual Motion’ Naas Bypass; ‘Shoreline’ Derry City Council and ‘Mothership’ Sandycove, Dunlaoghaire - Rathdown, County Dublin.
John KindnessJohn is an artist of international reputation. Previous commissions include ‘Waterfall of Souvenirs’ Europa Bus Station, ‘Romulus and Seamus’ Arts Council Northern Ireland Sculpture Park and ‘The Museum of the Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly’ in The Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Belfast.
Des KinneyDes works from a family based studio ‘Kinney Design’ in Belfast. He has been creating artworks for more than forty years in Ireland and various European Cities. Kinney Design specialises in glass mosaic murals and ceramic floors, some of their best-known works include ‘Sweeney Astray’ in the Irish Life Centre, Dublin and ‘Cats’ at Belfast Castle.
Paddy McCannPaddy is a Belfast-based artist, whose work encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including painting, print and sculpture. He gained an MA in Fine Art from the University of Ulster in 1989. Paddy has exhibited widely throughout Ireland and internationally. His work is held in public and private collections both at home and abroad.
Clare McComishClare is a recent graduate in Ceramics from the University of Ulster attaining a BA Fine & Applied Art (Ceramics). Clare is a freelance artist already working for a range of private clients; Children of Lir Community Garden is her first outdoor commission, she has also recently completed a mosaic for a public building in Glasgow.
Farhád Nargol O’NeillFarhád has a BA (Fine Arts-Music) from York University, Toronto, Canada. He has been active as a sculptor in Belfast since 1995, securing many local, national and international commissions. He is known mainly for his work in creating two-dimensional pierced copper design screens.
Aisling O’BeirnAisling is based in Flaxart Studios, Belfast working in various media. She also works part time as a consultant, delivering art projects for Sustrans and the National Cycle Network. Aisling has experience working in various media on a site-specific basis, her work has also had community involvement.
Deirdre O’ConnellDeirdre has an MA in Fine Art from the University of Ulster. She is an experienced artist and has been awarded a number of bursaries, scholarships and travel awards in Ireland and the USA. Her work is in private collections in Ireland, England, Belgium, Italy and the USA.
Peter RooneyPeter has a BA (Hons) and Post Graduate Diploma from the University of Ulster. He is an artist who enjoys applying his design, multi-media and fabrication skills to the creative process within the context of ‘Public Art’. Other commissions include E.T.A.S.K (Extra-terrestrial Ambulance Service for Kids) at R.V.H, Belfast.
Claire SampsonClaire is an accomplished Stone Carver. Claire is based in the Workshops Collective for Arts and Crafts and combines her skills in Sculpture and Stonemasonry to produce high quality works of art in sandstone and limestone.
Bob SloanBob was born in Belfast and studied at the Art College, Belfast and Central Schools of Art and Crafts, London. Academician and twice gold medallist of the Royal Ulster Academy, in 2003 Sloan was the only sculptor in the whole of Ireland to gain recognition and election to the Royal Society of British Sculptors.
Ned Jackson SmythNed has a BA (Hons) in fine and Applied Arts. He has public artwork displayed throughout Ireland and Europe; Ned’s work envelops a variety of materials and concepts. He approaches public commissions with concepts of working towards a site specific integrated work.
Marian TuckerMarian is based in Bristol working as a potter and research physiotherapist. Her work as a Sustrans’ volunteer led to her involvement in the NCN Ceramic Map artwork.
Eleanor WheelerEleanor has a Ph.D in Architectural Ceramics/ Public Art. Eleanor has vast experience in brick and ceramic sculpture in the external spaces including a terracotta wall mural for Down Arts Centre, Downpatrick and mosaic mural for Greencastle Women’s Group, Newtownabbey.
Ross WilsonRoss is foremost a painter with work in collections worldwide, including The Tate, The British Museum and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The ‘Ulster Brewer’ or ‘Barrel Man’ 1997 was his first ever sculpture; ‘C.S Lewis’, Holywood Arches being his second. His most recent sculpture was for the Houses of Parliament, London.
