Nomadic Picture Gallery

Docked at Le Havre

The Nomadic was docked at Le Havre before DSD bought it at auction.  The paintwork is worn and rust can be seen on the hull.
A side view of the Nomadic when docked at Le Havre showing shutters over the rectangular windows at deck level.  Some rust is streaking down from the hull.
The bow of the Nomadic with the distinctive ship’s anchor painted white against the black lower part of the hull.
First class passengers travelling to the Titanic would have sat on these dark wood Edwardian benches.
Passengers would have looked out through these portholes which are decorated with ornate plaster moulding.  The Nomadic would have been finished to the same quality standards as the Titanic.
This staircase is the grand entrance to the luxury below deck accommodation.  It is elegant with decorative banisters in dark wood.
There are still traces on the Nomadic of the quality and craftsmanship of the era.  Notice the ornate ironwork panel on the door behind the bar.
Although in poor repair the bar area is made of beautifully worked dark wood.

Coming Home to Belfast

The Nomadic was brought back to Belfast from Le Havre on the back of a huge barge called AMT Mariner.  Despite not being in good condition the Nomadic has the White Star Line company flag proudly flying from the stern.

The rudder of the Nomadic towers over a worker from Anchor Marine.  There are huge ropes securing the Nomadic.
The Nomadic flies the flag of the White Star Line.  The flag is red with their white star in the centre.  A few hundred people, of all ages, gathered to welcome the Nomadic home.
The civic reception which welcomed the Nomadic home was hosted by Department for Social Development Minister, David Hanson MP and attended by elected representatives, delegates from the business community and enthusiasts.
Department for Social Development Minister, David Hanson MP and Belfast’s Deputy Lord Mayor, Ruth Patterson made speeches to celebrate the Nomadic’s homecoming.
