Magherafelt Town Centre Masterplan

Purpose

A masterplan for the regeneration of Magherafelt Town Centre was commissioned by Department for Social Development in May 2010 and the final masterplan was completed in July 2011 after public consultation.

Vision for Magherafelt

“Magherafelt a Vibrant, Thriving and Welcoming Town Centre.”

The masterplan identifies strategic elements which will contribute to town centre improvements including:

A competitive retail centre with an excellent range of independent and multiple retailers, providing everyday service to its local community and attracting visitors with its unique retail offer;
A neutral venue which is inviting and welcoming to all sections of the community;
Vacant units will be occupied and the Town Centre will have further established itself as a lively leisure hub with a thriving evening economy;
The Town Centre will also be a desirable place to live with a range of accommodation available; and
The principles of sustainability will underpin the future growth of the Town Centre with Magherafelt becoming a market leader.
