Newtownards Masterplan

In May 2009, the Department commissioned Tribal Consultants to produce a masterplan for Newtownards town centre.

The purpose of the masterplan is to provide strategic guidance for the regeneration of Newtownards town centre.  It also aims to protect the existing physical, social and economic capital of the town making Newtownards an even more attractive place to live, work and visit.  The masterplan provides the basis and justification for decision making on the promotion, implementation and timing of urban regeneration initiatives in the town centre.

Newtownards is a large town with a population of just under 28,000.  The town centre has a relatively good mix of local and independent retailers and cafes and the retail trade is performing reasonable well.
