Community Investment Fund

Purpose:

The Community Investment Fund aims to deliver a longer-term, strategic commitment to supporting community development.

Current Status:

This fund is now closed. There was a single call for applications to the Fund in spring 2006, and applications to the value of £23m were received.  All applications were assessed and thirty-six organizations were selected by a recommendation panel to proceed to economic appraisal and the majority of contracts for funding have now been issued.

Criteria:

The Community Investment Fund supports sub-regional and multi-neighbourhood organisations that provide support services, or co-ordination for smaller local community groups, and which are capable of developing their provision of support and services to such groups on a wider scale.
  • ‘Sub-regional’ organisations are defined as those providing support or services covering at least one of the existing Council areas;
  • ‘Multi-neighbourhood’ organisations are defined as those providing support and services across at least two Super Output Areas.

Funding Level:

The Community Investment Fund programme totals £5m over the period July 2006 to March 2009. Organizations are funded up to a maximum of £240K over this period, to cover up to two essential salary costs and up to 75% of core running costs.
