Redeveloping the Gaol

Work and research by the local communities and agencies has provided very important information. This information has been used to plan for the future of the gaol. In February 2003, the Phoenix Trust www.phoenixtrust.org.uk who are experts in restoring historic buildings, reviewed this work and made a number of suggestions.

This included the need for a team to:

• make the site secure
• clear away non-listed buildings
• involve the local community and
• find businesses to use the main buildings.
