Way forward

Visits to the gaol will start again when necessary repairs have been done. We did not take part in the European Heritage open days this year. Later this year or early next year we are planning a week of events and will contact you through the local newspapers and television. Information will also be available through www.ehsni.gov.uk

We have worked with the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission to promote the gaol as a location for film and TV productions. We are also continuing to carry out research to find out more about the gaol’s history.

We will put the information we gather into booklets which will be available when public visits start again. The information will also be used to develop education programmes for school groups with the help of teachers and the Public Records Office (NI).
