- Make State Pensions fairer and more widely available;
- Reform State Pensions so that they are simpler and more generous. This will provide a solid foundation on which people can save and make the new scheme of personal accounts more effective;
- Make it easier for people to save more for their retirement by introducing a new scheme of personal accounts. The new scheme gives those without access to occupational pension schemes the opportunity to save for their retirement; and
- Support and encourage extended working lives.
